The current edition of HORIZONS the facts behnd the figures, published by
the ONS, reports under the heading "Its a London thing" that:
"In 2001 London accounted for 70% ot total natural population growth in the
UK even though London is home to only 12% of the total UK population."
Not a lie exactly. But the 46 thousands natural population growth in London
amounts to less than 0.1% of UK population.
One wonders how the ONS would have expressed London's contribution had there
been a natural decrease at the national level?
