these MS sourced emails are, I believe, _all_ virus laden. they tend to
be between 144 and 154 KB in size. One day lately there were over 200 of
them in my inbox, for a 24 hr period. As people found and stoppped the
sources of these self-replicating viruses, the number has declined.
However, I am still filling up my 25 MB server email account about every 3
days, and have to take slow measures to remove the junk.
I don't think we can lean on allstat folks to prevent them - they are
self-replicating viruses that apparently run off MS Outlook or Explorer
and attendant address books.
I do suggest you use a Mac or Linux or Unix platform OS and Netscape or
equivalent non-MS application until the fuss settles down.
Any time you insist on a monocultural environment a DNA specific disease
will be a serious risk. Doesn't matter whether you are working with
computer systems or maize (in USA, corn).
Cheers,
Jay
