IMPERIAL COLLEGE OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY & MEDICINE
Division of Primary Care & Population Health Sciences
Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology
Two research posts
Applications are invited for two research posts in the Department of
Infectious Disease Epidemiology (DIDE) based at the St. Mary's Campus of
Imperial College. The department undertakes interdisciplinary research on
infectious diseases and offers excellent research facilities and a friendly,
intellectually stimulating working environment.
The two post holders will work on a collaborative project between staff in
the department and Abbott Laboratories in the United States. The project
involves the merger and maintenance of large observational HIV patient
databases which will be used by the post holders to investigate the use and
effectiveness of highly active antiretroviral therapy. The investigation
will require novel statistical analyses and the use of mathematical models
to address key scientific questions.
One of the post holders will spend 50% of his/her time at Abbott
Laboratories (Illinois). This post therefore offers the successful applicant
the opportunity to work in both a leading research department within a UK
University and within the laboratories of a major pharmaceutical company in
the USA.
Candidates for both posts must have a strong background (preferably at PhD
level) in one or more of the following: statistics, epidemiology,
mathematics or a related quantitative discipline. A working knowledge of SAS
is strongly desired. Applicants should be able to work independently and as
part of a multidisciplinary team.
Both posts are for up to two years with a possible extension to three years
and appointments will be to the Research Assistant/Research Fellow scale
according to experience.
For further particulars, please contact the Recruitment Assistant, Imperial
College, St Mary's Campus (020 7594 3627 or e-mail [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> ). Applications should include a CV, an outline
of research interests, and the names of three academic referees. Candidates
