Hi Alan,
That is correct! The name already says so. It should be in every basic statistics book. You may also search statistics theory on the internet.

Subject: Spearmans rank correlation coeff
Allstat
I have just read in the Minitab helpfile that Spearmans rank correlation
coefficient can be caluculated by calculating a Pearsons correlation
coefficient from the ranked data. Is this really the case, if so, does
anyone know of any references.
Thanks in advance
