Research Associateship:
Spatial Statistical Methodology for Environmental Epidemiology
Applications are invited for this three-year, fixed-term position
within Lancaster's RAE 6* statistics group. The appointee will
work under the supervision of Prof Peter Diggle, developing
and implementing novel statistical methods for the
analysis of spatially referenced epidemiological
data. The work will also involve collaboration with
Profs Scott Zeger and Francesca
Dominici in the Department of Biostatistics, Johns Hopkins
University, including opportunities to travel to Baltimore
for meetings of the research team.
Applicants should have a higher degree in
statistics, a general knowledge of spatial statistics
and environmental epidemiology, and some experience of
statistical computing. Previous research experience
in spatial statistics and/or modern computationally intensive
statistical methods would be advantageous.
Starting date 1 April 2004 (negotiable).
Salary on the RA1A scale (currently £21,125
to £27,339).
