Part-time statistician
An experienced statistician is sought to work part time (2 days per week)
for 6 months from November 2003 to April 2004 to provide maternity leave
cover for the MRC National Survey of Health & Development (NSHD) at the
Dept of Epidemiology & Public Health at University College London.
The NSHD is a cohort study begun at the birth of its 5,362 sample members
in 1946, with 20 subsequent follow-up data collections, the most recent at
age 53 years. The aim is to investigate factors that, throughout life,
influence adult health (measured as physical and mental function and their
change with age) and survival. A small team of 3 scientists and
collaborators requires statistical advice during this period. Further

Applicants should have experience of epidemiological research, and a
postgraduate qualification in statistics or equivalent experience. Salary
will be on the Medical Research Council's Band 3 starting at £32,567 p.a.
inc. pro-rata, dependant on experience. Benefits include 30 days annual
