STATISTICIAN OR SENIOR STATISTICIAN/INFORMATION ANALYST (Ref: 1083)
Base: Winchester
Salary: £26,995 or £30,308 (dependent on experience)
This post will contribute to the provision of health information and statistical analysis for casemix development and services to the NHS. You will undertake statistical analysis, interpretation of health data and work closely with the clinical community to gain agreement to the development of patient classifications and associated products. You will contribute to the development of groupings of patients and treatments for implementation in the management processes of healthcare.
You will have responsibility for supporting or managing analytical and statistical reports within specified projects and ad hoc requests. This will involve routine and specialist statistical analysis and the use of various data processing packages. You will contribute to meetings and present information and also undertake project work. In order to meet with stakeholders, you will need to travel which may involve some overnight stays.
The post will be part of the Analytical and Statistical Services Team. As a team-worker who may supervise and mentor junior staff, this post is open to applicants with varying levels of expertise but to apply for this vacancy you will need to have experience of designing, managing and manipulating data to provide statistical information to meet customers' requirements. You will need confidence in applying statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to data and in presenting and explaining results and findings.
Experience of using SAS or other statistical applications would be an advantage as would experience of relational databases, OLAP, MS Access and MS Office. You may be a graduate or undergraduate studying a numerate discipline with an element of statistics and you may have some knowledge of the workings of the NHS.
