ASSISTANT STATISTICAL ANALYST
An assistant statistical analyst is required to support the work of the
Clinical Research Statistics Unit at King's College Hospital. The post
holder's time will be spent providing statistical advice, analysing data,
developing websites with statistical learning-aids and tools, developing
and managing relational databases to track the help desk system offered to
a wide and complex organisation, and assisting with the delivery of the
courses run by the unit. The post-holder is expected to register for a
part-time PhD. The salary for this position includes an allowance to cover
the fees for the part time PhD course and the post holder will be allowed
time to carry out the PhD work.
You should have a M.Sc. degree or higher qualification with a strong
component in quantitative research methods (in agriculture, psychology or
epidemiology) and statistical analysis, with practical experience in
statistical computing, including SAS and SPSS. You should also be highly
competent in graphic and web design/development, and have proven experience
in teaching and planning and organising educational sessions and training.
You should possess good interpersonal skills, be able to communicate
effectively with clinical researchers (consultants, senior and junior
doctors and nurses, graduate students, research fellows, etc.) in order to
contribute to the scientific goals and direction of the wide range of
projects carried out by the NHS Trusts. Although the post holder will
support the head of the unit closely, the ability to work independently and
without continuous supervision is a key requirement of the post.
Starting salary in the region of £20,000 pa ( this includes the London
Allowance), depending on qualifications and experience. For a copy of the
