MediSense UK Ltd
Recent estimates predict that, if current trends continue, the number of
people with diabetes will more than double from 140 million to 300 million
over the next 25 years. So it's little wonder that experts feel the
condition will be the pre-eminent healthcare issue of the 21st century.
That is why what we do is so important.
Established in 1984, MediSense UK Limited helps diabetes sufferers all
over the world to regain some level of independence in their lives. Our
line of home blood glucose monitoring systems provides individuals with
accurate, convenient testing options. In July 2002 we produced our seven
billionth blood glucose test strip, and the success of these
ground-breaking products has been recognised by the Queen's Award for
Enterprise International Trade.
A key part of Abbott Laboratories' Diagnostics Division, we continue to
expand fast due to global demand for our unique biosensor technology. We
already employ over 1,800 people and have three sites, two in Abingdon and
Witney in Oxfordshire and a further plant near Boston in the USA.
