As someone thinking about making a mid-life switch into the statistics profession, I read with interest the recent "no experience, no jobs" thread. My working life to date has been in the software industry, but I am thinking about taking a year out to get an MSc in statistics and then trying to get work in that area.
A couple of years back it seemed there was quite a shortage of statisticians, but I'm now wondering if supply is outstripping demand - at least for those who don't have the requisite 3 years experience in the field. Maybe my career move would not be so wise ;-(
I'd welcome views, experiences or comments - to [log in to unmask] . Thanks!
