RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - MEDICAL STATISTICS
Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Cambridge University, UK.
This post is funded by the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths and
will be co-supervised at the MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge. The
post-holder will conduct analysis of data from a large cohort of pregnant
women (circa 1.4 million). Demographic, maternal and biochemical
measurements will be related to a number of outcomes, including premature
birth, stillbirth, neonatal death and death in infancy. The post would suit
a candidate who has recently completed an MSc or PhD in statistics,
particularly in applied medical statistics. Analyses will involve using
standard univariate and multivariate methods, such as logistic and
proportional hazards regression. Ideally the candidate would have
experience in the use of such methods in the analysis of epidemiologic
data. However, individuals who are less experienced/qualified but are
highly motivated and keen to develop a career in epidemiology would be
considered. The post is a fixed term contract for 2 years, ideally starting
October/November 2003.
