Hi List,
As I understand it Institutions are not permitted to overspend the budget,
no matter how small the overspend may be. At Leeds we overspent by a small
amount in the 2000/01 session and were told by HEFCE when we sent the annual
return that this was not allowed and had to fund the shortfall from other
sources.

Subject: Hardship Loan Guidance (issued by the DfES)
Val
I've just had a quick flick throught the 2003/4 guidance
received today, and it states that we are not to go over the
allocated budget?
Is this actually the case, or are we able to go over budget as
per the current year - as I went over by £2,400?
Regards
Shelley
