Dear All,
I am writing on behalf of Dr Tony Bruce about two secondment opportunities
that have become available in the Policy Development Group at Universities
UK and may be of interest to subscribers of this list:
Funding Policy Adviser
Health Policy Adviser
Funding Policy Adviser
We are currently seeking a Policy Adviser in the Funding Policy area, which
includes supporting the work of the Funding and Financial Management
Strategy Group. This is a senior post within Universities UK. The Policy
Adviser will provide specific inputs on public and private funding and
financial management in HE. This opportunity has arisen as a result of the
current post holder being appointed as Director of Planning and Strategy at
a higher education institution.
Health Policy Adviser
As a result of the current post holder being seconded abroad for six months,
we are looking for a temporary replacement Policy Adviser in the Health
Policy area, which includes supporting the work of the Health Committee.
The Policy Adviser provides specific inputs on university education and
research for all health professions (including medicine and dentistry).
The Funding and Health Policy Advisers are key posts among several Policy
Advisers located in the Policy Development Group. The secondments offer
opportunities to contribute to the development of policy at national level,
working with government, the funding councils and employer representatives
as well as Universities UK members. The secondees will work in collaboration
with colleagues to support member groups and make an active contribution to
the development of Universities UK policy and good practice. The secondees
will report to one of the Deputy Directors of Policy Development.
The successful candidates will have a degree or equivalent, specialist
knowledge and expertise in university funding or health issues, at least 3
years experience in policy analysis, several years of managing staff,
excellent written and oral communication skills and experience of
negotiating with, and influencing, others. Knowledge of the policy
development process, an awareness of the public relations and campaigning
aspects of policy development and finance and budgetary skills would be
desirable.
This is a valuable career development opportunity for a member of staff in
mid-career who would find the experience of working at national level
beneficial. The terms of the secondments are negotiable but we have in
mind a full time appointment for a period of between six months and two
years.
I attach a job description and person specification for each post, further
details and application forms. It would be helpful to have expressions of
interest within two weeks, ie before the Christmas holidays. Prospective
candidates are welcome to contact Tony Bruce (020 7419 5465) for an informal
discussion.
With thanks
Alison
