My dear Mannie,
I would like to put on record that how much you will be missed. Obviously
not just by me but by the many others whose emails I have now (since
speaking to you) opened.
The most striking thing about you, apart from the tremendous effort you
have put in to help us all and your knowledge, commitment and
dedication, (though I think 6.30 regularly in the office is not good work/
life balance and I would have to energetically counsel you and Naseem on
that!)... the most striking thing about you is your unfailingly kind and
supportive attitude.
This no doubt comes from a good understanding that those who work in the
area of 'race' are on the receiving end of more negative attitudes and
unhelpful behaviours than most. There is usually little recognition of the
effort it can take to make the smallest real progress. The RRAA has helped
effect change more easily than before, and that just shows how hard it was
before.
So thanks for your support, your kindliness and all your hard work. Another
organisation will benefit from them in the future but I hope the good
spirit you put into the work with us will continue rippling through this
sector. Keep in touch.
