I'm Senior Lecturer / Year Leader - BA Hons Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (The London Institute). My backgound is within the general field of graphic design, drawing, illustration and printmaking, though my MA is Computing in Art and Design. Having taught computing in the early 90's my teaching has now focused on visual ideas and design concept development. Recently, I was awarded a teaching and professional Fellowship by the London Institute and as part of my proposal I'm currently engaged in researching VLE's (virtual learning environments). The Institute has invested in 'Blackboard' as it's preferred VLE and I'm looking at it's potential for CSM BA graphic Design (520 students) as a means of facilitating learning both on and off campus. If anyone has experience (good and bad) of Blackboard or other VLE's for graphic design teaching and learning (or other art / design or related subjects) I would be grateful for any advice or information (such as relevant research papers, websites, etc).
