> Dear Colleague,
>
> Please regard this as a personal invitation to actively participate in
> Icograda Education Network (IEN) events in Brighton, UK.
> The Icograda Education Network will be holding a two day conference
> followed by an Assembly of IEN members in Brighton, UK on June 20-23,
> 2003. (http://www.brighton.icograda.org)
>
> This conference follows the inauguration of the IEN, organised by
> Icograda, at a meeting in Brno, the Czech Republic in June of 2002. At
> that event, 73 delegates from 28 countries confirmed the importance of
> developing an international network of schools offering programs in
> graphic design in order to foster exchange, share experience and provide
> an international voice for graphic design education.
>
> Icograda is the international voice for the profession of graphic design.
> Though Icograda's primary obligation is to the professional community and
> the needs of the profession, it has long been clear that the creation of a
> network of educational institutions would be of great importance.
> Responding to this need, and the requests of both practitioners and
> educators, Icograda has decided to foster the creation of the IEN and
> provide early administrative and logistical support. It is envisioned that
> participating schools would share active responsibilities in conducting
> IEN activities as soon as possible. It is in this manner that the Faculty
> of Art and Design of the University of Brighton is hosting the IEN event
> in June.
>
> The IEN Conference and Assembly coincide with the University of Brighton's
> annual degree show and participants will be able to participate in the
> many interesting events scheduled for the week.

>
>
>
> The objective of this IEN Conference is to generate a truly

> The two day conference program will include several

>
>
> * Several invited speakers, reflecting the

>
>
> * In order to obtain a truly multi-faceted
> program, we invite participants to propose presentations. In order to

> then focus on the challenges being faced.
> * Please submit a 250 word synopsis of your
> proposed presentation, a short biography and basic information about basic

> We have made all efforts to make participation in the IEN

> participate must pay a UK90 registration fee. This fee includes
> registration and participation in the two day conference, participation in

> does not include meals which are available in the vicinity of the
> conference venue. A block of hotel rooms has been reserved and once
> registration takes place, participants are urged to take advantage of
> these rooms as soon as possible. Brighton has good train connections to
> London airports - particularly Gatwick.

> 3. IEN Assembly and Membership:
>
>
>
> Educational institutions offering programs of study in
> Graphic Design (and all areas of visual communications) are invited to
> join the Icograda Educational Network. The IEN is inclusive rather than
> exclusive and aims to create as wide an international community as
> possible - reflecting the wide variety of circumstance in which graphic
> design is practiced. This would include academic degree courses (graduate
> and post-graduate) in countries where such programs exist. In countries
> where academic programs do not exist, programs of shorter duration will be
> considered.
>
> Annual membership fees for IEN membership are linked to per
