Hi all
not sure how many of you have heard about the proposals to create a single
equality body, merging together disability, race and sex into one unit. The
consultation period ends on 21st February. The consultation document
"Equality and Diversity: Making it Happen" that is available at:
http://www.womenandequalityunit.gov.uk/equality_body/introduction.htm
The DRC is encouraging people to make their views known and is welcoming the
consultative approach.
The document I received also mentions a Green paper "Equality and Diversity
the Way Ahead" on draft regulations and this includes proposals to the
employment provisions of the DDA including the abolition of current
exemption of employers with fewer than 15 employees.
Anyway there is chance for you to have your say either to the DRC, or to the
web address above before 21st February.
