Hello everyone
Although I do not work directly for a disability group I like to be aware of
things going on which is why I subscribe to this list, thanks to Mary
Gwynne.
Marcus, I feel you might be over reacting to this as I've always thought
that America has the most vociferous and successful access campaigners in
the world so that any new development would still have to address
accessibility issues.
As the article states, Americans suffer from many health problems through
lack of exercise that in turn will lead to future disability issues for
them, so improving the environment will have advantages for all.
From what contact I do have with disability groups I'm sure there are many
who would like to take advantage of the facilities that are talked about and
does this not also provide the opportunity for greater integration of people
of all abilities?
Thanks for the opportunity to make a comment and if my views are borne out
of ignorance and naivety then I apologise.
Regards
Rob
