4.2.1: small thing, probably. The Effort column in the table adds up to
12 SY rather than 6SY because, presumably, the SY in the column should
be SY/2 or something. Perhaps this is the normal way of expressing this,
and I mention it only in case it isn't only me who got confused.
Also, and similar to Mark's comment, would it be worth mentioning in this
section that these tools help ``exploit the UK's recent membership of the
European Southern Observatory (ESO)'' (Science Cttee Strategy document
para.17), even though that bullet point refers to instrumentation rather
than software. Backing that up, should we reiterate here that ESO doesn't
provide data reduction tools, and possibly point to our ESO eScience bid.
Such linking of two bids is surely providing ``a co-ordinated solution to
one
or more of the above challenges'' (call, para.10)
4.3: Can any mention be made of the Starlink Quick service?

Sect.2: `Show commitment and strength in Grid computing and wider e-Science
developments.' Can we brandish being at the IVOA meeting, and DavidB
subsequently leading one of the working groups within the DM group?
`show how developments build upon PPARC's existing investment in e-Science
and IT investment.' As you note, Starlink itself is PPARC investment
in IT. I would imagine that this would be a strong point of the case.
4.1: Starlink has experience consulting the community through SSGs
(though I appreciate that it might be important to be evavsive about
the generally depressing nature of this experience), and arguably through
Quick. Does this link with (ie, can text be stolen from) Sect.4.3 of
the AgVirObInf document?
