Peter,
Building an root_fs image you can use is very time consuming. I have tried!
The root_fs images you can download do not contain anything of any use.
Steve.

It does what it says on the web-site, I've run Mandrake on my RH machine
in a user-mode kernel, sharing the network and local disks (and tested
that our software runs). The speed is acceptable, but not as fast as a
native install.
It's reasonably easy to setup, provided you just pick up pre-built pieces,
and are not worried by ifconfig, masquerading and friends. I've no idea
how easy it is to do a proper install from CD, but clearly it's possible
as others have done it... Could be a easy(ish) free alternative to VMware.
The downside is that it's obviously no good for Windows, BSD, Solaris etc.
Introducing another topic see:

ml
(simply: Novell aquire SuSE, with IBM in the shadows).
so another Linux distro enters a period of transistion...
Peter.
