I am trying to get Cygwin installed on one system at RAL. We can then try to
get the whole of the software built under MSW. Stopping support for Linux
would be a very bad idea, most academic departments use it (at least this
was true at Manchester).

I'm following this thread with some dismay. Has Linux become the
"industry non-standard"? My advice is to bow to the inevitable and
use the MS Windows API from now on. You know it makes sense.
