While I can see some advantages of such a scheme, I personally am
unenthusiastic about being on the bleeding edge of build system
technology. I am capable of mucking about with operating systems,
but find my programming productivity plummets when I have to do so.
Although in principle it would give us the capability of investigating
problems on various different distributions, I'm not sure how well
this would work in practice - say there's a tricky SuSE-specific GAIA
problem and DavidB is the one who has SuSE installed, neither Peter
nor David is going to be well-equipped to look at it.
If we decide to do this I'll play along of course (but vote I get
RH9 which is what I currently have :-)).
