There's a version in the USSC. To install this personally create a
directory to keep it in, cd to that and do:
% unzip /star/java/jre/javaws-1_2_0_02-linux-i586-i.zip
(maybe /stardev).
% ./install.sh
when it asks for a version of Java say "/star/java/jre". Now in the new
"javaws" sub-directory there should be a executable "javaws", run this.
(you may have to setup the proxy server as usual, see the preferences
dialogs).
The mime type is application/x-java-jnlp-file, if you want to do all this
via your browser.
Windows users have it much easier!
