I think we have a lot to talk about, and (more importantly - for we are
well practiced in talking ad-infinitum) a lot of decisions to make. A
face-to-face meeting with a strict agenda covering the suggestions that
this thread is throwing up would be very beneficial.

I have no particular emotional attachment to the mk script. I just think
that it will be a big job, given the number of starlink packages which
currently use mk scripts. I guess we should start at the roots of the
tree, so SLALIB followed by AST would seem a good place to begin. But
KAPPA uses almost every starlink library and so would be a lot further
down the line.
