Yes these are obsolete. I have removed makefile and package-list.
The directories uk and pal could usefully be removed too, but
from what I remember removing directories from a CVS repostitory
is rather like shovelling water. If Steve wants to erase them
from the repository, I don't think any harm could come of it
(no sensible distribution was ever based on those directories).
