All,
I will tag (USSC218) the repository today if there are no more problems. But
in reality, it should be a mutual agreement between everyone when a tag is
worth doing. Are there changes since the freeze that should not go on the
CD? Come to think of it, a freeze should be a freeze, no further updates to
the repository until further notice. So I think the rule is, TAG is not
equal to freeze.
Steve.

Mark,
I have been thinking about what should have been done with the repository.
What we should have done is have a freeze then a week or so without any
updates to the repository so that I can test things and report problems.
During that week or so, the repository should only get updated if there is a
problem that needs to be fixed for the release. We will know for future
reference, but a procedure should be in place for next time.
Did people want me to downgrade the JRE, JDK and JAI or is everyone happy?
Steve.

Steve,
I'm not quite sure what the status of the repository is at the moment;
some clarifications would be appreciated.
I've made a number of bugfixes and enhancements to TOPCAT since the
nominal freeze date last week; these are things which should have been
in the original submission but weren't because of time pressure.
Some of them I've asked you if you can use them, some not.
Are these going to find their way on the CD (I'd certainly like
them to if given the choice). If so, do I have to ask you explicitly
by item/package, or will everything which has been checked in get
used when you do a final tagging (I don't see a CD-type tag on the
files yet)? If so, can you say when said tagging will be?
Also, following Peter's comments about versions and so on, are you
going to go with the java versions you mentioned a few days ago
(J2SE1.4.1, JAI1.1.2) or are you rolling back to the earlier ones
in the light of Peter's comments? If the former, do we have an
extended testing period with the new JDK/JRE, and if so, until when?
cheers,
Mark
