SALCTG Course: Teaching Skills for Library and Information Professionals
Venue: Glasgow Caledonian University
Date: Tuesday 13 May 2003
Trainer: Anne Nicolson, Head of Department - Scottish School of Further
Education, University of Strathclyde.
Are you required to deliver training sessions to groups of users, to help
them make the best use of resources? Do you feel you might benefit from an
opportunity to develop your teaching skills? SALCTG is running a one day
training course to help librarians and information professionals develop
their skills in delivering user education sessions. This course is designed
to encourage library and information professionals to examine and reflect
on their presentation skills and to consider how these could be developed
to be more effective.
By the end of the course, participants will have:
- discussed and compared perceptions and experiences of presentation to a
range of students
- identified some aspects of adult learning
- considered their own presentation priorities
- considered the process of planning, implementing and evaluating a
presentation to a group of students
