Don't know your XML from your OAI? Dazed and confused by KM and OpenURL?
Well, you need to join us for our post AGM seminar that will demystify many
of the newer acronyms that litter our profession. Alan MacLennan (Robert
Gordon's University) will talk about XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and
its emergence as the new standard for data exchange. John MacColl (Director
of SELLIC and sub-librarian for Online Services at Edinburgh University
Library) will explain why OAI (Open Archives Initiative) and OpenURL are so
important in accessing electronic resources. Simon Burnett (Director, Centre
for Knowledge Management, Robert Gordon's University) will explain about the
role of KM (Knowledge Management) in our organisations.
The AGM and post-AGM seminar is open to non-members, however members have
priority for attendance. Non-members are welcome but may not participate in
the business of the AGM.
The meeting will be held in the Procurator's Library in University Library,
University of Abertay (http://www.abertay.ac.uk/maps/html/local_map.cfm),
