Dear colleagues,
The web site for the SPEIR project (Scottish Portals for Education, Information and Research) is now available at http://speir.cdlr.strath.ac.uk/.
SPEIR is a SLIC-funded and COSMIC affiliated project spearheaded by the CDLR aiming to research the distributed information infrastructure requirements for the Scottish Cultural Portal Pilot, and the one year Public Library CAIRNS Integration. Where appropriate, SPEIR hopes to develop associated pilot facilities whilst ensuring that the infrastructure proposals are sufficiently generic to be applicable to other future Scottish information portals. A key element of the work will be to comply with accepted and developing standards in order to ensure Scotland-wide, UK-wide, and World-wide interoperability in respect of distributed infrastructure elements.
