This joint conference organised by MmITS and YLG Scotland aims to
introduce to you some of the best examples of children and ICT in UK
libraries and schools.
Begins 9.30am for 10am
Lunch and tea/coffee will be provided
10 am: Nick Morgan will offer an overview of ICT in the school context,
with examples of successful, innovative and creative projects enjoyed by
young people. He will describe online and real world activities, and
consider some issues about working with children and ICT.
Nick works for Learning and Teaching Scotland, a government education
agency working to promote effective use of ICT for learning.
11.15 am: 'Stories from the Web', a reader development tool for young
people and adults working in a variety of environments. Doreen Williams Co-
ordinator, Stories from the Web, Birmingham Libraries.
LUNCH 1.30pm
The afternoon session will introduce you to all of the professionals who
worked on this year’s performance ‘Spacetanic’ and this will be followed
by a full performance by the 30 local children.
THE ARTS GAME2 ‘SPACETANIC’
This three year project is funded through NOF (New Opportunities Funding),
BAA, Paisley Partnership and Renfrewshire Council Libraries. Organised and
devised by Anne Louise McGough, Lifelong Learning Librarian for Ferguslie
Park Library, Renfrewshire Libraries.
This unique six week summer school combines all of the arts, creative
writing, drama, music, dance and IT. The children aged, 10-14yrs old,
devise a written musical digital performance after taster sessions in all
of the areas and create their own website www.artsgame2.com.
