Some years ago I watched a show on dowsing, I think by
the BBC. I as one of the 8 out of 10 folk who can
dowse, was interested. The show host pointed out
dowsing "lines could be laid" and proved his point
with a box about the size of a very small suitcase!
He "laid" several lines which were sucessfully
followed by dowsers. At the end of the show, he opened
the suitcase up and showed what was inside "laying the
lines". One small lead acid battery and a sealed beam
headlamp. Why it worked?? he had no idea, but just
did!
I worked at Renison Bell Tin Mine at Renison bell in
Tasmania for a short time as an electrician, and we
were given the job of locating a high voltage buried
cable, the task wasn't to be trusted to labourers by
the engineer for fear of damage! I was thought of as a
looney "pommie" idiot when I asked one of the
apprentices to get me two brazing rods and bend them
how I wanted them for devining!!
I had located the main earth mat for the mine and
several other buried cables plus the bottom of the
main gate support, when the engineer arrived and asked
in good Australian English, of which I won't repeat
here!! what I was up to. He fell over laughing and was
in total disbelief at my endeavors. Anyway, I saw him
take off into the high voltage switchyard and try
dowsing out for himself. He came back after a short
time excited, and said he had located all the buried
cables in the yard! To which he also said, "I've got
several thousand dollars worth of electronic gear in
my office to do what two bucks worth of brazing rods
will do!
I have also found water with brazing rods, I don't
think it makes much difference what the dowsing
materials are made of, It's what the dowser
concentrates on, finding metal or water with brazing
rods or witch hazel twigs. Never tried mine roadways
though!
