Many of the adits in the Camborne / Redruth / Chasewater / Carnnon Valley
areas as well as up in the Goss-Moor area in Cornwall have Ochre of various
colours ranging from red through to brown/red.....have spent many happy
hours wading through the stuff & trying to pump the stuff (at the
consistency of baked beans & a similar colour) when dewatering......but a
devil of a thing to get out of clothing afterwards.
My father used to mix the yellow Ochre with lime-wash to coat the out side
of his house......much cheaper than cementone & other proprietary colorants.
Regards, Bob.
