In November 1999 the MINET (European Mining Heritage Network), held a
conference in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, on the value of developing
mining heritage and tourism. The proceedings of that conference, originally
available to delegates only, have now been published by the Mining Heritage
Trust of Ireland (MHTI).
Increasing public awareness of our mining heritage can be a valuable tool in
protecting surviving mining features and stimulating further research at all
levels. For comment on the conference content go to
http://www.exeter.ac.uk/~pfclaugh/mhinf/minet.htm and for contacts in MHTI
to order the publication go to http://www.mhti.ie
