In Louk's "Mining and Ore-Dressing Machiner" (Spon, 1890), this note
appears in the Introduction: "advantage has been largely taken of the well-
known work by Mr. G.G. Andre' on Mining Machinery, which has been before the
public some considerable time, and is now out of print".
How's that for a teaser! Out of print even before the century was over.
He is referring to the descriptions Louk provides being grafted onto earlier
descriptions. I checked Louk's Index, but found no quick reference to your
Deveon Great Consols facility. There is a great deal in the book on coal
mining machinery, but I was not able to do much further reading.
Were you in the US, you could go to the Library of Congress and have
them dig Andre' out of the stacks (don't doubt they have it, they have
everything) and ask them to copy what you need. They might still help since
you're cousins and all, so try sending an email request. The address to
start is <http://www.loc.gov/rr/askalib/ask-scitech.html>. Just follow the
directions.
I used them last August to find an article in a totally obscure French
civil engineering journal from 1902. They came through in shining colors.
