My thanks to Simo Chapman for his posting. My reason for suggesting Shotton Colliery as a possibility was because of the water company's statement that pumping operations from the New Winning very much reduced the output at their nearby Shotton Pumping Station so that it was abandoned.
The information that have on New Winning is:
East Shaft - NGR NZ 4074 3853 -488 feet deep by 10 feet diameter.
West Shaft - at NZ 4074 3852 - 494 feet deep by 10 feet diameter with a heading to the East Shaft at a depth of 246 feet.
The third shaft - at NZ 4074 3853 - presumably the colliery pumping shaft - 505 feet deep and 14 feet dameter for a depth of 336 feet with the remainder 9 feet diameter. The section for this shaft is given in Borings and Sinkings, No. 2519.
