Fairley, W. Epitaphiana: or, The Curiosities of Churchyard Literature. Being
a Miscellaneous Collection of Epitaphs. London; Samuel Tinsley: 1873. 1st
edition. Wandering 'round old churchyards seems to have been a popular
Victorian pursuit -this author was a mining engineer who collected epitaphs
in his spare time. His Introduction gives "an account of various customs
prevailing amongst the ancients and moderns in the disposal of their dead".
Hardcover. 5.25"x7.5", viii + 171 + 16 pages. Bound in original brick red
pebbled cloth with gilt spine decorations. Light cover soil and wear, a
little internal soil, hinges a bit shaken. [00568] $85.00
