Graham Owens posting is very interesting because of the amount of information there. I first became interested in witherite about twelve months ago when I posted a message on the list which produced a good number of responses as a result.
Graham mentions the Ludworth Quartz-dolerite dyke - is this the same as the Ludworth Whin dyke which I believe runs east to west passing very close to the site of the former Croxdale Pit? This dyke had the effect of reducing the percentage of volatile matter in the coal for up to three-quarters of a mile on either side of it.
What is dolerite?
Regarding the Sharnberry fault - where does this run?.
Alan Vickers.
