One interesting ropeway at the other end of the coal supply chain was at Poole gasworks in Dorset. Coal came by sea and was unloaded and carried to the gasworks by ropeway. As this crossed above both the quay and at elast one other street open to traffic there was always a danger of a shower of small coal descending into the street.
