A couple of comments.
1. Visual Fortran 6.1 is four years old and does not recognize Pentium 4.
The current version is 6.6.
2. /optimize:1 is the next-to-lowest optimization level for Visual Fortran -
the default is /optimize:4. If you are building for Pentium 4, I recommend
version 6.6 with /optimize:5 /fast
3. The processors you're using have different memory subsystem
implementations, which can significantly affect results.
What exactly is it you're trying to accomplish with this comparison when
just about everything is different between the two?
