We have users with CFD, Atmospheric modelling and FEA problems which regularly
require 5-10Gb memory. You may think you don't need 64 bit integers.
Try considering users with >4Gb files, direct access files with over
2 Gigarecords, and/or individual record lengths >2Gb.
If you restrict your tools, you restrict the problems you can attack.
