IBM is pleased to announce new releases of XL Fortran.
IBM XL Fortran for AIX V8.1.1 provides full functionality of XL Fortran
V7.1 and V8.1.0. In addition, it adds partial support for the
draft Fortran 2000 standard such as stream-access I/O, VALUE attribute,
PROTECTED attribute, allocatable components, IEEE Floating Point
Exception Handling and pointer with INTENT attribute. Additional
performance enhancements for IBM POWER4 architecture are also provided.
IBM XL Fortran V8.1 for Linux on pSeries was made available Feb, 2003.
It is based on the mature compiler technology of IBM XL Fortran for AIX
and is fully compliant with FORTRAN 77, Fortran 90 and Fortran 95
standards.
It also supports both IBM and industry extensions. In addition,
this compiler provides full support for the OpenMP Fortran API V2.0. With
32-bit and 64-bit optimization supported, the compiler generates highly
optimized code for PowerPC processors, including POWER4 architecture.
