An invaluable National Recording Project (NRP) is being carried out by the
Public Monuments and Sculpture Association (PMSA) to digitise and record
information on Britain’s public sculptures and monuments. The Visual Arts
Data Service: The AHDS Centre for Visual Arts (VADS) is pleased to announce
that a sample, containing nearly 2,500 images, from this growing resource is
now available on-line at http://vads.ahds.ac.uk
The PMSA, based at the Courtauld Institute of Art, is a charity founded in
1991 for the promotion and protection of the nation's public sculpture and
monuments. The images and data available via VADS are intended as an
introduction to this continuing collection. Further information about the
NRP and the PMSA can be found at http://www.pmsa.org.uk
The PMSA collection is a valuable resource for the subject areas of Art and
Design, Architecture and the particular disciplines of Public Art and
Sculpture, as well as broader socio-historic and cultural studies in the
Arts and Humanities. Some of the other resources online with VADS include:
The African and Asian Visual Artists Archive, Central Saint Martin's Museum
and Study Collection, London College of Fashion: College Archive and London
