Dear Colleagues
In our Student Record System we currently use the UCAS code to denote a particular
programme of study. We use a four figure internal code to denote taught postgraduate
and research postgraduate programmes of study.
We are currently investigating the possibility of changing all programme codes to a more
meaningful institution-derived code (possibly using six characters instead of four).
I would be very grateful if you could spare the time to answer the following questions.
1) If you do not use JACS/UCAS codes in your Student Record System, what internal
system do you use?
2) How many characters do you use to denote a particular programme?
3) What is the underlying logic to this internal system?
Many thanks
Andy
