Hello all,
I am a visiting graduate student at the Ocean Sciences Centre,
Newfoundland. I was trying to investigate the question if tunicates can
filter transparent exopolymer particles (TEP) by doing feeding experiments
with the ascidian Halocynthia pyriformis. I also did incubation experiments
with their fecal material, and followed the bacterial growth on the fecal
strings and in the incubation vials as well as the changes in TEP
concentration.
Does anyone have any information about ascidian’s fecal material,
(production rates, bacterial growth, digestion of the mucous net)or related
investigations? I am grateful for all and any advice, thank you for you
time,
