Chaps,
Appended below is a message from Andrea Leistra of the Steward
Observatory reporting a Figaro problem. Unfortunately I'm going to be
away at an AstroGrid meeting for the first half of next week and I won't
have time to investigate until I get back. If anyone feels like picking
up on the problem in the meantime please be my guest! I suspect that
there is something wrong with the way she has GKS or PGPLOT set up.
Maybe you can copy any messages to Andrea to me. I've e-mailed her
appraising her of the situation.
And early in the new year I am definitely going to prepare a new release
of Figaro incorporating all my extant changes and HAND IT OVER TO
SOMEONE ELSE!
cheers,
Clive.

Subject: Various FIGARO problems
I've been encountering a few odd problems with FIGARO. I'm using version 5.6.2 which
came with the Starlink for RedHat 9.0 CD.
The first of these problems appeared only after I recently upgraded RedHat and
Starlink, and appears to be a problem between FIGARO and PGPLOT. Attempting to use
"splot" gives the following error message
!! GROPWK - /xwindow is not a valid workstation name
(it also fails if I give my machine name to the "soft" prompt.
The "image" command fares no better.
I've just reinstalled pgplot, in an attempt to fix the problem, but in my
home directory. Does FIGARO expect pgplot to be someplace in particular?
(The PGPLOT_DIR environment variable is correctly set.)
I've also had problems both under Linux 7.3 and 9.0 with the IRFLUX
command, getting the following error message:
Standard name given as HIP 64941
startint: error in format
apparent state: internal I/O
last format: ( 'A Fortran error occured: IOSTAT = ', I )
lately writing sequential formatted internal IO
Abort
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
Thank you,
--
