As yet I've had no replies to my news item regarding priorities for ESO
instrument support in ORAC-DR. I was hoping for some suggestions that
might help flesh out the e-science bid, rather than purely our own
educated guesses.
So I wonder if you could have a chat with your friendly local
astronomers or even DrMoan in the coffee/tea lounge to see what their
aspirations are for using ESO and VLT instruments in particular (if you
don't already know from talks). We need to identify things like missing
applications and functionality, if only in outline, to make the case
less woolly. You can't be more woolly than no text in Section 4.2.1.
ORAC-DR is only as good as its underlying Starlink engines. So we need
to know about modern astronomical algorithms, so if there's time, please
`pump' your colleagues for information about new packages they've heard
about, seen, or even used.
