NEW - ALPHAGALILEO FEATURED BOOKS
AlphaGalileo now offers our contributors an enhanced listing for book announcements on the welcome page, the 'featured book'. This is essentially a prominent advertisement for your book which all users will see on logging-in to www.alphagalileo.org
Featured books are currently offered without charge.
If you wish to submit a featured book, please submit your announcement as usual by clicking on 'add book' but mention 'featured book' in the box 'notes for site team'. The Duty Editor will then post it for you in the books section and in the featured book slot.
Please note that featured books must include a cover image which must be in a standard format such as .jpg and .gif and no more than 200k in size. Please contact [log in to unmask] if you have any questions.

CALENDAR REVIEW
During December we will be using a new online survey facility to ask users their views on the current calendar service. We expect that the software will also be able to provide our government funders with information on the effectiveness of their funding support.
The Calendar continues to be supported by GlaxoSmithKline. AlphaGalileo greatly appreciates both the financial and personal support that it receives from GSK and would be pleased to hear from other organisations who would be interested in supporting one of the world's major research news services.

ALPHAGALILEO WELCOMES EUSJA AS AN ASSOCIATE PARTNER
The European Union of Science Journalists Associations (EUSJA) has accepted an invitation from AlphaGalileo to become an associate partner of the service. Other associates include, the European Science Foundation, Euroscience, the European University Information Officers Organisation (EUPRIO) and EIROForum.
AlphaGalileo has always worked to represent the best interests of all its users and the involvement of EUSJA in the strategic guidance of the service is therefore extremely significant.

EUROPEAN PRESS CENTRE NEWS
Following almost a year of consultation with journalists, information staff and the research community during the year, AlphaGalileo has finalised its outline plan for a European Research Press Centre. We continue to welcome additional comments, but the Foundation's priority is now is to turn the outline into a business model that can be implemented as early as possible.
You can find more about our plans for a press centre at http://www.alphagalileo.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=readnews&news=12
If you'd like to add to the comments we have already received please send them to [log in to unmask]
