Temporary Role until August 2004.
We are looking to recruit a confident, outgoing individual to join the
programmes team and assist in delivering high quality programmes to schools
and the public. The role will include presenting educational programmes in
the Space Theatre, training as a Flight Director in our Challenger Learning
centre, operating StarDome our portable planetarium, presenting outreach
programmes, delivering workshops and assisting with day-to-day operations
of the Space Centre.
The successful candidate will have a proven interest in astronomy and space
science, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and
effectively to many different audiences in a variety of settings.
Commitment to excellent standards of customer care is essential, whilst
experience of presenting similar educational programmes in a formal or
informal learning environment would be a distinct advantage. A full
driving licence is essential.
Working with Children An Enhanced Disclosure will be required for this

Salary equivalent to £12,000 per annum.

Please note Interviews for selected applicants will be held week
commencing 1st December 2003 (actual date to be arranged). Invited
applicants will be asked to conduct a 5 minute presentation on a space /
astronomy topic, which they believe would be of interest to a family group
of visitors. The use of props is welcome, however AV or IT equipment
should not be incorporated.
