The freelance writer advice is true. When I said "poet," my tax man said,

Same here, 'freelance writer' is a comprehensible status for the taxmen,
while 'poet' suggests either a criminal record or madness. Can we call this
a platonic attitude to poets? I find it fairly easy to justify the various
expenses of a 'freelance writer'.
