Hi Mark,
Yes, it is Boston MA I'm off to. I'll be there May 1 to June 10, with
probably just a brief excursion to NY and maybe another to Connecticut to
see people. In Boston itself, unfortunately, I don't have many contacts -
really just Fanny Howe, who's in England till late May - so if there are any
sympathetic spirits you know who'd be interested in meeting over a cup or a
glass of something, I'd greatly appreciate you putting us in touch.
I'll be staying at:
63 Dorchester Street
Squantum, MA 02171
tele: 617-794-0128
Pushing my luck a little further, I'm in process of trying to put together a
trip for the fall: doing readings around the U.S. to scrape up enough cash
to survive into the new year. All I've got definite so far is a reading /
lecture with Susan Howe in Buffalo, sometime in the last two weeks of
October, but there are some prospects emerging of getting over to CA. Once
again, then, if you know of anyone who'd be interested, I'd jump at it.
That's if world travel hasn't ground to a halt with SARS by that time.
Last fall, when I was in NY, I spent an afternoon with Michael Heller, and
was surprised to find he'd known Schwerner well. My two biggest regrets in
recent poetry, I think, are that both Schwerner and Barry MacSweeny (in
England) died before I could meet them or hear them read in person, though
at least The Tablets comes with that CD.
Incidentally, do you have a list of those anthologies of Cuban and Mexican
work in translation you've been putting together? Not sure if they're
Junction Press, but in any event, I'd like to get some while I'm over there
and the postage isn't so prohibitive.
Anyway, thanks for all the comment on translation: you've upped the ante on
me somewhat.
Best,
Trevor
